Mike Tyson says he has had to “get rid” of his pet tiger after it “ripped somebody’s arm off”.
The eccentric former heavyweight boxing world champion had kept the Bengal tiger, named Kenya, for 16 years after buying her for a reported £55k.
However, he has revealed he has since had to sell Kenya off due to her age.
Tyson claims her eyes and head “got bad” as the years went by.
He then followed that claim with the perhaps slightly more crucial information that it tore off a person’s arm.
“I did have a pet tiger, her name was Kenya and she was around 550 pounds,” Tyson told GQ.
“I had a great affection for her; I kept her, I slept with her, I kept her in my room.
“She stayed with me I had her about 16 years.
“She was a massive monster, you can’t imagine the size of her.
“But she got too old and I had to get rid of her when her eyes and her head got bad.
“Oh and she ripped somebody’s arm off.”
Tyson is known for keeping several tigers in the past, and reportedly kept up to seven at one stage.
Pre-tigers, Tyson was the youngest ever heavyweight title winner in boxing history, having won the WBC title in 1986.
He went on to become the undisputed champion, but lost all his titles to Buster Douglas in 1990.
In 1992, the Iron was convicted of rape and sentenced to six years in prison, where he reportedly bought his first tiger.
Tyson now runs a cannabis farm in the Caribbean.
